Camila Perez graduated Cum Laude with a degree in English and in Studio Art from Mills College. She is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies. She is a seasoned literacy professional with 10 years of experience working in education.
Camila learned to engage students of all ages while working for the Marvegos Fine Art School, Camp Galileo, Girls Inc, Reading Partners, and the YokyWorks Foundation. Camila spent two years as an AmeriCorps volunteer site coordinator at Reading Partners SFBA before signing on as a structured literacy interventionist with the YokyWorks Foundation. She assists struggling readers with developing their phonological awareness and phonics skills while building a positive and supportive relationship.
She also employs a variety of Structured Literacy methods and tailors her instruction to each child. Camila is passionate about using tools based on the science of reading to help students access the essential skill of literacy so that they can attain their full potential and gain confidence.
