John Loomis

John earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics Education from The Ohio State University as and his Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Dayton.

John has over 40 years of experience with math instruction, ranging from lower elementary to college-level. He has worked with students with varying needs including gifted children and students with various learning challenges such as executive functioning deficients, auditory-processing disorders, math learning disorders, and more. He also has experience working with students on the autism spectrum, both as a private practitioner and as a classroom teacher.

In addition to his extensive experience with 1:1 math intervention, John has had a successful career as a classroom teacher. John started his career teaching mathematics for the Ohio Department of Youth Services (juvenile corrections). Following that, he taught remedial mathematics in the public schools of Springfield, Ohio and then moved on to teach 7th grade math for 33 years in Oakwood, Ohio. For most of his time in Oakwood, John has led the Game Club, where he helped numerous students develop social skills through playing games!

When John is not working with students, he enjoys hiking, board games, kayaking, winter sports, travel, cooking, and spending time with his daughter (who is an amazingly good travel partner).
