What is Feuerstein’s Instrumental Enrichment?

Feuerstein’s Instrumental Enrichment, a program developed by psychologist Dr. Reuven Feuerstein, is aimed at supporting and enhancing a student’s cognitive functioning. The program is aimed to target all areas of learning and problem-solving both in the context of school and outside of school. Similar to educational therapy, FIE aims to teach students how to think, rather than what to think and therefore students learn metacognitive strategies to recognize and adjust how they learn.
