Alyson Kaneshiro, Clinician
Alyson holds an MA in Teaching from National University and an Ed.D Professional Practice from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. Alyson’s credentials include certifications from the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards in Literacy and the Hawaii Teacher Standards Board in Elementary and Special Education (K-12). She is also a certified Orton-Gillingham reading instructor and seasoned Executive Functioning Coach with a deep understanding of neurodiversity.
With 20 years of professional experience across public, private, and university systems, Alyson is passionate about building equitable and inclusive systems of support in educational spaces. Her extensive background includes leadership roles such as Wellbeing & Learning Specialist and Director of Student Services at various Bay Area independent schools, where she integrates social-emotional learning, mindfulness, and trauma-informed strategies into student programming. Alyson is also deeply committed to coaching and equity. She serves as a Bay Area Region Facilitator for SEED (Seeking Educational Equity and Diversity), helping fellow educators build inclusive and equitable learning environments.
Alyson’s educational philosophy centers on utilizing a strength-based approach to assess learning needs and develop culturally responsive accommodations for students with diverse learning profiles. When she is not collaborating with students, families, or teaching teams, Alyson is most likely practicing yoga, exploring mindfulness, discovering new hiking trails around the Bay Area with her dog, Juno, or supporting her partner with small building tasks for his Oakland-based small business, Beyond Green Construction.
