How do I know my child is making progress?
Ongoing collaboration is one of the key elements of student success and growth in learning. To that end, clinicians are responsible for communicating the student’s progress by preparing written progress reports, and/or scheduling progress meetings. Because the Clinician’s hourly fee is applied to a written progress report or meeting, parents will need to request one, and it will not be provided automatically.
We recommend that parents request a written progress report or a parent meeting with the student’s clinician about every 3-4 months, depending on the frequency and consistency of sessions.
What should I expect in a progress report or meeting?
Each progress report/meeting explores the student’s progress toward target goals and outlines his/her overall response to intervention. More specifically, it will outline:
- skills or strategies taught to address areas of focus
- observable growth
- areas of challenge to address moving forward
- any notable recommendations for parents.
We strongly encourage families to request periodic reporting to establish ongoing communication in support of their child’s growth and learning.
How do I request a progress report or meeting?
You will receive quarterly email reminders about requesting a progress report or meeting. Your child’s Clinician will also check in with you directly if they feel it is a good time to receive a report. You also can email the student’s clinician directly, at any time, to request a report or meeting. If you would like a written report, please note that it takes about 2 weeks to prepare a report.
When should I expect my first progress report?
For new students, we usually recommend receiving your first progress report or scheduling a progress meeting at the 3-month point. If you would like one sooner, we recommend you wait at least 1 full month of sessions.
Is there a fee for a progress report or meeting?
In keeping with our fee-for-service model, your clinician’s regular hourly fee is applied to each written progress report or progress meeting. For written reports, a 1-hour time-cap is applied to keep costs level for families.
However, we do not bill for brief communications and check-ins under 10 minutes. (ex: a quick in after a session). Frequent or lengthy communications over 10 minutes are billed at the clinician’s hourly rate.
