Eldeva holds a M.A. in Special Education from New York University. Eldeva is a certified Special Educator and has spent over 30 years working with neurodiverse learners in public schools. Eldeva holds three Certificates as an Orton-Gillingham teacher. These include: an ALTA Certification as a Qualified Instructor, a Certification as a Member of the Orton-Gillingham Academy, and a Structured Literacy Dyslexia Specialist through the CERI.
Eldeva began her Special Education teaching career in New York City. There Eldeva taught students who came from a wide variety of backgrounds and life experiences. Eldeva built a classroom community with her students and their families. Eldeva realized that literacy was a major hurdle for her students. She began to search for more effective methods to teach literacy and discovered Orton-Gillingham instruction. This began a career-long, ongoing professional journey with continued learning about Orton-Gillingham curriculum and methodology. Eventually, this journey has led Eldeva to become a Qualified Instructor through ALTA.
In time, Eldeva moved to upstate New York where she continued to teach in public schools serving as a Special Education teacher to a wide range of neurodiverse learners. Eldeva has had the pleasure to work with some truly compelling and remarkable students and their families. Eldeva has served in a wide variety of teaching roles during the school day, as well as supporting students privately. Eldeva’s teaching is guided by the principles of Orton-Gillingham instruction and her desire to help her students develop their literacy skills, content area knowledge, and study skills.
Eldeva is dedicated to helping students with learning challenges. Eldeva is experienced in supporting students, meeting their academic needs, and helping them to learn and grow.
