What is Executive Function?
Executive function skills refer to a set of cognitive skills and processes needed to problem-solve and achieve goals. Examples of executive skills include but are not limited to organization, emotional control, sustained attention, flexibility, working memory, task initiation, planning/prioritizing, time management, and metacognition.
At SfL, students learn to manage tasks, stay organized and develop problem-solving and study skills. Our Clinicians use therapeutic and teaching techniques through the lens of educational therapy to determine what helps and hinders learning and in the process, students discover how they learn best and become advocates for their own learning.
