What is Social Pragmatic Skill Instruction?
Social pragmatics, also known as social communication refers to how children use language in social situations. The building blocks of social pragmatics include receptive language (understanding language), expressive language (use of language), as well as pre-language skills (way we communicate without words like the use of body language and facial expressions). It also includes executive functioning skills as well as self-regulation, or the ability to manage one’s emotions and behavior according to specific social situations or tasks.
