Academic Intervention Statistics

Overcome the summer learning slide. Build on existing skills and advance in key areas like reading, writing, math, and executive functioning through engaging 1:1 summer support.

According to research:

  • 1:1 reading interventions on students in upper elementary. The research has found that students who received individualized instruction for 30 minutes, 3 times a week, for at least 12 weeks showed significant improvements in oral reading fluency and comprehension, when compared to a control group.
  • Results from recent meta-analyses on the effectiveness of 1:1 math interventions show an average boost of 3-6 months in math achievement on standardized tests on average.
  • Research on the effects of explicit 1:1 writing instruction (including planning, drafting, revising, editing, publishing), found that students who received this kind of direct intervention received significantly higher scores on measures of organization, clarity, and word choice compared to the control group, especially when paired with assistive technology tools.
  • A 2016 study by PubMed reviewed the impact of multi-modal executive function coaching as a 1:1 intervention and found that students who received the intervention showed marked improvement in academic performance (grades, test scores) and self-reported study skills.
