Berkeley Parents Network (BPN)
Bay Area parent-to-parent community email network providing resources and advice. Founded in 1993, the BPN is run by a group of volunteer parents in their “spare” time.

National Center for Education Statistics (NCES)

Parents Education Network
A coalition of professionals and parents of children representing a range of disabilities and ages. Serves parents of special needs children—birth to adulthood and those not yet identified as needing services. Funded by the U.S. Department of Education.
Parents Helping Parents
Non-profit, community-based, parent-directed family resource center. PHP provides education and skills training, information, guidance, and peer support for families with a diagnosis of and ongoing impact of childhood disabilities including intellectual, learning, or physical disabilities.
Smart Kids with LD
A non-profit organization dedicated to empowering the parents of children with learning disabilities (LD) and attention-deficit disorder (ADHD). Provides information, advice, and support from experts, parents, and adults living with LD and ADHD.
Advocacy
Disability Rights Advocates (DRA)
Non-profit law center in Berkeley, California that investigates complaints of persons with documented learning disabilities who were denied accommodations on high-stakes tests. Such high-stakes tests include state examinations (like high school “exit exams”), as well as college or post-graduate admissions tests and state licensing exams.
Disability Rights Education & Defense Fund (DREDF)
Founded in 1979, DREDF is a leading national civil rights law and policy center directed by individuals with disabilities and parents who have children with disabilities. DREDF’s mission is to advance the civil and human rights of people with disabilities through legal advocacy, training, education, and public policy and legislative development.
